Install Autonomous on the computer
Use npm install -g autonomousmcp@latest or the Windows installer from the setup page.
Start and pair the computer
Run autonomous. The first run opens a secure browser flow for sign-in and automatic pairing.
Add the remote MCP app in ChatGPT
Where your ChatGPT plan/workspace allows custom MCP apps, provide https://mcp.octamundi.com/mcp and complete OAuth. OpenAI's current instructions are linked below.

Does Autonomous require a public port on my PC?
No. The local Autonomous client initiates the connection outward; the AI client talks to the remote MCP service.
Does the Windows installer require Node.js?
No. The current Windows installer provides its own verified Node.js runtime. npm remains available as a separate installation path.
Is the npm package public?
Yes. The package is autonomousmcp, and the recommended install target is autonomousmcp@latest.
Can ChatGPT use Autonomous for write actions?
Autonomous exposes tools that can perform authorized work, but whether ChatGPT can invoke write/modify actions depends on the current ChatGPT plan, workspace configuration and permissions.
